This 6-level office building connects Terminals 2 and 3 at the San Francisco International Airport. SunSteel furnished and installed the 1,411 tons of structural steel, 132,500 square feet of metal floor and roof deck, miscellaneous metals, and metal stairs and railing. The structural system consisted of buckling restrained braces (BRB’s) for the lateral resistance. This high-profile project was erected in the heart of an active airport with public traffic on one side and the tarmac on the other side. SunSteel utilized certified City of San Francisco Local Business Enterprise (LBE) subcontractors to meet project goals.
